What Is a Mattress Protector?

A mattress protector is a layer that goes over your mattress that can be taken off and washed. It protects your mattress from dirt, sweat, spills, dust mites and general wear and tear. It usually sits under your fitted sheet and can look like a thin fitted sheet, a quilted pad, or a fully encasing cover with a zipper.

Some common types in the UK include:
